[Recipe] How to make 떡국? (tteokguk: Korean rice cake soup)

I've posted about New Year's day and 떡국 once. I told you Korean people eat 떡국 on New year's day. Korea has the Lunar New Year´s Day, and the Lunar New Year's day is coming. (The day is January 31st.)

Regardless the New Year's day, my mom usually cooks 떡국 when she is being lazy to cook. So this one isn't unfamiliar food to me.

Since the day is coming, I'm going to share the recipe how to make 떡국. The recipe isn't difficult, but it might be difficult because it's hard to find 떡(rice cake) in foreign country.

Anyway, let's start to cook 떡국!

Firstly, prepare pice of beef and boil it with spring onion and onion.

Meanwhile, steep pieces of 떡(rice cake) in cool water. (It's thawing process and make the rice cake soft.)

When the beef is done, chop it.
Do not cool down, and do not throw the soup away. WE NEED IT.

We need to season the beef. Just add crushed garlic and black pepper and mix!

Add piece of 떡(rice cake), and the beef, and boil it.

While boiling, prepare one or two eggs, and beat it.

When the rice cake is done, it will come up of the soup, and then add the egg we prepared.

Lastly, add spring onion.

It's done now!

We are now able to eat our own 떡국!
According to your liking, add black pepper and laver.

If you can get rice cake, try to cook this one! :)

p.s: The rice cake which is needed for this dish is 가래떡(garaetteok:  bar rice cake or stick of rice cake.)
