Teacher's day & Coming-of-Age Day

May is called "Month of Family" in Korea. Perhaps because there are many holidays related to family in May. Last time, I posted about Parent's day. And exactly a week later, last thursday, 15th may is Teacher's Day.






I heard that there is Teacher's day in some countries. I have have no idea how to celebrate this day in other country, but no matter how people celebrate the day, I'm going to let you know how to celebrate Teacher's Day in Korea.

When I was in school, I used to celebrate it with my class mates.

We used to write messages to show our appreciation, and decorate the black board

And we sometimes planned an event, and prepare a cake and carnation for our class teacher.

AND I,

To express my appreciation to some teachers, I used to write letters and make some things to give them. Fortunately I have some pictures of what I made when I was in 17 years old, I will keep posting about it.

In the last year of high school, I made sweet jelly of red beans, and put sugar carnations at the top of jelly. 

I wrapped it like this and I gave them to teachers with letters.

Since my high school was little bit far away from my home, it wasn't easy to bring them to my school though.

And now, in University, it's not easy to celebrate Teacher's day and show how much I appreciate them.

Put some banners, 

decorate offices of professors, or write messages in paper.

To show my appreciation, I have to visit the teacher I appreciate, but it's not easy to visit them because I usually have classes on Teacher's day. :(

About Coming-of-Age Day

In Korea, we also have Coming-of-Age Day. Since this holiday isn't big as much as other days like Parent's Day, and Teacher's Day, I'm going to post it with Teacher's day. And.. I actually spent my Coming of age day already. -.-;

This day is on 3rd Monday of March.  From this year, Coming of age day is for those who is 19 years old in International age.

Around the day, many stores have sales events.

Like this! So people can buy or present perfume or other stuff at cheap pirce.

And there are three presentations for coming of age day : Rose, perfume, and kiss.

Rose means, wish to live intense life

The meaning of perfume is :  wish to be a person who aren't forgotten in social life

And kiss means, wish to enjoy pleasure of love.

I celebrated Coming of age day last year, and I got them! I even got two bottle of perfume! :P
