Few weeks ago, my aunt visited my home, so I decided to cook something for her.
Exactly,
I made some oatmeal cookies and 만주(Manju)
And I'm posting about 만주(Manju) today.
To be honest, 만주 isn't originally Korean snack. Its original one is Chinese dumpling. As you probably know, there is meat inside of dumpling, and Japanese people started to make it with red-bean instead of meat. And then, the Japanese one came over to Korea. Korean, especially old people, pretty enjoy it and it has been a long time since Korean started to eat 만주.
Anyway, I will share the recipe as usual.
Firtstly, add 1/3ts of baking soda to 1/2ts of water.
Second, add an egg, 40g of sugar, 1TS of honey to first one.
Then, add 140g of weak flour, and 1/3ts of baking soda(more), and mix all!
Like this.
Wrap it and put it into the fridge for 30~60 minutes.
Meantime, prepare 350g of 팥앙금 (red-bean paste), divide it into 15 pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
And then, divide the dough which you put into fridge into 15 pieces also.
(Each piece is about 15g)
Wrap the red bean paste into the 15g of dough.
They are ready to be baked..!
Before to bake them, we need an egg yolk.
Cover top of them with the egg yolk.
Put some sesame on the top, and bake it in the 170 degree oven for about 12 minutes.
(12 minutes later)
You get it!
It looks like this inside of it.
It's really aromatic, delicious and sweet. :)
Why don't you try it tonight? :P
